In order to define the current role of endomyocardial biopsy (EMB) in the management of cardiovascular disease, a multidisciplinary group of experts in cardiomyopathies and cardiovascular pathology were convened by the American Heart Association (AHA), the American College of Cardiology (ACC), and the European Society of Cardiology (ESC). Recommendations for taking EMBs and the requested examinations in form of 14 clinical scenarios were published in all three leading cardiological journals Circulation, European Heart Journal und Journal of the American College of Cardiology in October 2007.
